Henry Collection
Along with the ErieQuest and Heinz displays the Leamington Art Centre is also the home of one of the most unique legacies ever given to this community.

It is simply known as the “Henry Collection” over 350 items of art, from jade to silver, sculpture and clothing, originally given to the Leamington Library in the late 1960s.

For many years the Henry's family travelled the world and collected artifacts from places even remote by today’s standards - India, China and southeast Asia. And they also purchased from North American artists as well, mainly paintings and sculpture.

For decades a few of those items were on display at the Leamington Library but in 2006 the municipality decided to renovate a special room at the Art Centre to house and display the Henry Collection.

In 2007 an expert evaluated every item in the collection and gave it a value about $160,000.

The collection also includes 100 paintings, many of them, depicting scenes and settings of Essex County.

Some of the paintings were complete by Mrs. (Caroline) Henry, also considered an accomplished artist.

In the coming months and years more and more of the Henry collection will be displayed within the formal gallery itself.
